What Xfinity race is this weekend? Bristol Motor Speedway
By Ted Fleming
NASCAR’s second tier series heads to the half-mile track in Tennessee for the Food City 300 and here is your complete guide to watching practice, qualifying and the Friday night race.
The Xfinity Series rolls into Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend for the first of the final five regular season races before the playoffs begin on September 24 in Kentucky. Three drivers, Erik Jones, Elliott Sadler and Daniel Suarez are guaranteed a spot in the Chase. Part-time drivers Justin Marks and Sam Hornish Jr. each have wins, but are on the outside looking in to make the top-30 in points.
“I can’t wait to get to Bristol and back in my ARRIS Camry on Friday night,” said Daniel Suarez, who is currently second in the Chase standings, 25 points behind Sadler for the top spot. “Racing under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway is truly spectacular and something every fan should witness. I really love the track and all the action it provides for us racers as well as the fans.”
Erik Jones leads the series with three wins this season and is fourth in points. He is looking to capture back-to-back championships after taking the Camping World Truck Series title a year ago. The 20-year-old has won two of his previous three Xfinity starts at Bristol completing every lap.
“Bristol is a track that was definitely high on the list of tracks where I wanted to get a win and to have gotten that win so earlier in my career is pretty cool,” he said. “I’m ready to get to Bristol and get us another win with the Reser’s team.”
