11. Florida Gators

Florida would be on this list even if they didn’t have a history of winning national titles and Heisman Trophies. Gatorade was invented to rehydrate Florida football players in the heat and humidity of the Sunshine State’s swamp-like climate. Just think where we would be as a society without Gatorade.

Moving past sugary sports beverages, Florida has been one of the nation’s best programs for years. The Gators have won three national titles and have produced three Heisman winners. One of those trophy winners, Steve Spurrier, came back to coach and left a legacy as the Ol’ Ball Coach.

Florida’s home stadium, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, is one of the nation’s loudest, and the Gators enjoy one of the best home-field advantages in college football. The heat, humidity and the tightness of the seating create a raucous environment that most opponents struggle in. The Swamp is truly a perfect description for the home of the Gators, and fans celebrate big plays with a chomping motion.
