Pedro got Chelsea back into the game against Tottenham, curling into the top corner to level the score at 1-1.

Tottenham have been terrific in the first half against Chelsea. Spurs have pressed very successfully, forcing the Blues into several significant errors in their own half. Their positive start was rewarded with the lead in the 11th minute, when Christian Eriksen thrashed a shot into the top corner with his left foot.

Chelsea have slowly come back into the match since then, taking back more control over the midfield and getting Eden Hazard more of the ball wide left. Hazard had a low shot saved after picking off a goal kick from Hugo Lloris, but that was as close as Chelsea had come.

Then, in the 45th minute, Pedro received the ball at the top of box, turned once, and curled a beautiful finish into the top corner. It was an excellent goal, and a sign of Chelsea’s growing control of the game, but Tottenham will still feel hard done by after an impressive first-half performance.

Chelsea would move back into top spot, a point ahead of both Liverpool and Manchester City, if they are able to stage a come back. They will remain third with draw. The Blues have been in exceptional form since losing to Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates back in September. They hadn’t conceded a goal since the first half of that loss, scoring 17 of their own.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are hoping to move back into the top four. They’ve fallen behind in the title race over the past few months, despite being the only unbeaten team left in the Premier League. Their struggles in attack have seen them draw six of their first 12 matches, scoring only 18 goals, at least seven fewer than any of the teams in the top four.
