Ben Simmons’ NBA career already had a rough enough start, but apparent family drama may complicate things even further.

Philadelphia 76ers rookie forward and first overall pick Ben Simmons has not gotten off to the start he had hoped for. He has been recovering from foot surgery, but his problems go much deeper than just basketball. The former LSU star’s sister, Olivia, has called him out on his alleged unwillingness to call her back. She has made multiple attempts to reach out to him.

Olivia lashed out at him through her Twitter account, which cannot be seen by the public since it has been set to private. However, TheScore captured every single tweet.

Among these tweets includes an accusation of Simmons not returning Olivia’s call. Olivia revealed that she has bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression. If these tweets are to be believed, Ben has ignored his family despite their support of him. His sister has portrayed herself as someone who always had his back.

The 76ers rookie has not publicly responded to this Twitter barrage, but it’s clear that family issues are taking place. It remains to be seen whether his future will be affected by this drama. The foot surgery is certainly not making things any easier, though.

Despite his star status, Simmons’ rookie season has been marred by the surgery, carrying on the 76ers’ injury curse. Simmons was the latest casualty after he broke his foot, which has kept him out for the entire 2016-17 season so far. Centers Nerlens Noel, Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor all suffered significant injuries in their rookie seasons as well. Each of them were drafted with top-6 picks.

Simmons’ upside cannot be denied though, as he led LSU in almost every major category. The Australian-born star scored 19.2 points per game while averaging 11.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists. He also came up with two steals and 0.8 blocks per game, indicating that he can be a fantastic all-around player.
