Legendary broadcaster Keith Jackson made a surprise appearance in the announce booth of the Rose Bowl on Monday.
When you think of big games on ABC like the Rose Bowl, you think of Keith Jackson. When you think of big sports games in general over the years, Jackson’s names is always one of the first names that pops up when thinking of famous calls.
At 88 years old, Jackson retired a while back but he made a surprise appearance in the announce booth on Monday. Visiting his friends Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler, Jackson talked about the game between the Penn State Nittany Lions and USC Trojans along with other bowl games going on.
While his voice didn’t carry like it used to due to age, you could still hear the distinct tone of his classic calls and it sent chills down the spine hearing him one more time. The legendary broadcasters all had a voice that was remembered and Jackson had one of the best ever.
Getting to see him back in the announce booth for a short period of time was a dream come true for plenty of college football fans and older fans that have been watching all sports and Jackson call them over their lives.
It’s fitting the game between Penn State and USC was a back-and-forth affair with Jackson in attendance. He has been on hand to call some of the most famous games in sports and he got to be on the broadcast for a portion of this one too.
