Jarrett Jack is back in the NBA, but can he be healthy?

The New Orleans Pelicans trade for DeMarcus Cousins has left them without Tyreke Evans. For his faults, Evans was a solid creator off the bench that could put up points when needed. They now look to Jarrett Jack to hopefully fill that void.

Jack is one of those players that NBA fans either love or hate. He’s played on a handful of different teams and how successful he was on each has varied. His time with the Cleveland Cavaliers was a disaster, but he’s beloved by many Golden State Warriors fans from his one season there. He’s a volume scoring guard and while that has a place in the NBA it can also be a negative.

The Pelicans however aren’t worried about the negatives. They will be signing Jack to a 10-Day contract in hopes that he’ll bolster their bench with a much-needed scoring boost. This won’t be the first time Jack has played in New Orleans so the front office is likely aware of what he can potentially bring, but considering Jack’s recent injury history a 10-Day contract is probably the right move.

Jack is back in the NBA after a brief period where was left without a team. Jack was last seen playing for the Brooklyn Nets, and had signed a contract with the Atlanta Hawks before being waived. The Hawks likely would have kept Jack, but he tore his ACL forcing them to go in a different direction. Now that Jack is healthy teams have been kicking the tires to see if he’s still capable of scoring at an NBA level.

This is a low risk move for New Orleans. They’ll hope Jack can fill a void for them, but if the injury took away what gas he had left in the tank then they can let his 10-Day expire and explore elsewhere.
