Takkarist McKinley

Outside Linebacker, UCLA Bruins

The Baltimore Ravens endured a tough offseason under general manager Ozzie Newsome. While the addition of safety Tony Jefferson was terrific, the losses of inside linebacker Zach Orr, right tackle Bobby Wagner, outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil and receiver Steve Smith Sr. are troublesome. Newsome is trying to get Baltimore back in the playoffs after missing them each of the past two seasons, and has a chance to land a high-impact player at No. 16. While getting a replacement for Smith or Wagner is possible here, Baltimore’s last two first-round choices were spent on offensive tackle and receiver.

Look for Newsome to add a stud in the front seven, which leads him directly to Takkarist McKinley. McKinley was slow to develop at UCLA, but dominated as a senior with 10 sacks and first-team Pac-12 honors. McKinley is 250 pounds and has a great motor off the edge, making him the perfect candidate to replace Dumervil. The youngster can learn under Terrell Suggs, one of the best edge rushers to ever do it. If McKinley is on the board, the Ravens should run the card up to the podium. He’s a high-upside player and could not land in a better situation.
