1. Boston Celtics

The most obvious choice for Markelle Fultz is the Boston Celtics. He’s the top overall prospect and the Celtics have the No. 1 overall pick. Seems like the most logical place for Fultz to land in. The Celtics have a dynamite point guard in Isaiah Thomas. He was even a borderline MVP candidate this year, behind his magical fourth quarters.

So with that, why would the Celtics look to add a point guard in the NBA Draft? It’s simple, Thomas is limited by his height on the defensive end and his isolation heavy offense is limiting the ability of the players around him. He’s also going to be a free agent next year, so will the Celtics want to give a maximum contract to someone they may not believe in 100 percent? Unlikely.

With those questions looming, the Celtics should plan ahead like they won’t Thomas and draft Fultz. He might not be the missing puzzle piece to get them over Cleveland immediately, but he has the potential and chance to do so.

Right off the bat, the Celtics get bigger at the point guard spot, which would make them better defensively. Fultz has a strong offensive game and with better teammates around him, his assisting numbers will go up as well.

The Celtics are desperate to add as many young stars as possible, so they can wait out LeBron James’ reign in the Eastern Conference, before striking. This might be a slam dunk for GM Danny Ainge, who had a team in the Conference Finals and will now likely select Fultz with the No. 1 overall pick.
