Utah Jazz veteran power forward Boris Diaw usually does whatever he wants. Here he is walking his dogs on a Segway in the desert in Utah.

For the last 14 years, French forward Boris Diaw has been a solid NBA player for five organizations and one of the most interesting cats off the court. Diaw signed a two-year deal to continue his NBA career with the Utah Jazz last summer. Utah made the playoffs and Diaw was an important role player for a team that made the Western Conference Semifinals.

Diaw recently turned 35-years old and totally knows that the end is near for his professional basketball career. Usually the first thing to go with a professional athlete is the legs. However, he does like to be outdoors and walk his two dogs.

So it should come as no surprise that the eccentric Jazz forward would take his iconic Segway off-road to walk his two pups in the desert in Utah. Do Segways even have off road capabilities, who knew?

There is nothing quite like bring turn of the 21st century technology into the rugged and majestic terrain of a national park. Though the Salt Lake City nightlife is New York’s, you can’t take your Segway off-roading in Manhattan.

While the dogs would hang out in his proximity, we all know that Diaw is secretly training for his next professional venture: The Iditarod. Racing with sled dogs in Alaska has to be on Diaw’s bucket list, right? It’s definitely a step up from owning a gastro-pub.

Since Diaw does whatever he wants better than everybody else, it’s not going to be shocking to see him brace the cold in a couple winters once his basketball career is over and start his Iditarod training. Segwaying it in the Utah desert with two dogs is easily the best preparation for this.

Ed. note — An earlier version of this article incorrectly identified Diaw’s location as Canyonlands National Park. Diaw was actually outside of the park. Drone flight, off-road motorized vehicles, and off-leash dogs are all illegal within the park limits.
