Cam Newton still isn’t throwing yet, but his fashion game is in midseason form
By Tim Ryan
Panthers QB Cam Newton had offseason shoulder surgery, so the team has played it safe in protecting its star. But his fashion game has trucked forward with reckless abandon.
The Carolina Panthers began a minicamp on Tuesday and the only thing anyone seems to care about — and rightfully so — is whether or not Cam Newton has begun throwing yet. Like, at all.
Sadly, aside from a little underhand pitching in kickball, it won’t be happening at minicamp.
While hearing such uneasy news likely has Carolina fans ready to enter meltdown city, there is a silver lining.
Actually, it’s more like a “foulard” lining. Yes, foulard, better known as silk.
Because despite the slow crawl back to football-throwing glory, Cam is killing it when it comes to the ever-evolving fashion game.
Exhibit A: Cam rocking an almost indescribable hat — is that a bleeding horn? — to go along with a “Domino Foulard Silk Shirt” from Versace.

The price? Good news, it’s only $625! That’s 50% off, my friends. When you see a price slash like that, you pounce. Those are the rules.
Here’s another look.
Upon seeing just two photos of this ensemble, I’ve already warmed up to the single horn hat.
If we don’t get treated to some kind of “horn hat” at the postgame podium by Week 4, the Panthers should probably just release the guy.
But we’re not done there.

Cam’s always had a little Willy Wonka flair to his style, and this look from a recent charity event would be no different.
The man gets his share of flack but so much of it feels unwarranted.
Seriously, how can you not love this dude’s spirit?
The pants look like something one might wear to a crucial match at WrestleMania, but whatever; it’s Cam, man.
Need I remind everyone that we’re talking about the king of the romper?
I can’t recall a time in the history of sports where a superstar’s outfit has led to, uh, this…
Amazing.
Yup, Cam gonna Cam. Although I must say, tragic choice on the kicks.
