NBA Rumors: Suns’ Brandon Knight tears ACL, could miss season
The Phoenix Suns lost a huge piece of their team Tuesday when it was announced that Brandon Knight tore his ACL.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Phoenix Suns point guard Brandon Knight tore the ACL in his left knee and is in danger of missing the entire 2017-2018 NBA season.
Knight is no stranger to injury. The last time he played more than 70 games in a season was back in 2013-14 when he was a starting guard for the Milwaukee Bucks.
That being said, Knight remains an important presence for the Suns. As a back up to Eric Bledsoe last season, he averaged 11 points and 2.4 assists per game. He has shown great potential when given playing time. As a starter during the 2015-16 season, he nearly scored 20 points a game.
The 25-year-old is simply unable to escape the chain of injuries that have plagued his young career.
The Suns will now have to rely on Tyler Ulis to give Bledsoe some rest. The rookie played about 18 minutes per game last season, in which he averaged 7.3 points.
Knight’s injury comes amid rumors that the Suns may be posturing to make a blockbuster for Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving. It was recently rumored that he wanted to leave Cleveland and the Suns might be able to form a package for Irving. Both Josh Jackson and Bledsoe would likely have to be traded to land one of the best point guards in the league.

Phoenix definitely needs to make some changes if they want to compete in the coming years. Last season was disappointing as they finished last in the Western Conference with an abysmal 24-58 record. The only team worse in the entire league was the Brooklyn Nets.
The Suns will need to reevaluate their line up with Knight probably missing next season.
