UFC light heavyweight Volkan Oezdemir calls out Alexander Gustafsson to “figure out who is the real King of Europe” and face Champion Jon Jones.

Fresh off his first-round knock out win overthird-ranked light heavyweight Jimi Manuwa at UFC 214, Volkan “No Time” Oezdemir is wasting no time looking for his next opponent. On his official Instagram page, the Swiss fighter known as “No Time” calls out former title challenger Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson in a “King of Europe” bout.

“Let’s increase the value of the next title shot!” writes Oezdemir  “[Alex] and I need to figure out who is the real king of Europe! Alex, I know how great you are and I respect you a lot but I’m going to knock you out! Not because I want to just because I have to!”

Also on the post was the hashtag #jonesvsthekingofeurope and a knockout victory by either man would definitely make the next title fight against current champion Jon “Bones” Jones that much more intriguing.

Currently ranked No. 3 in the official UFC rankings, Volkan Oezdemir (15-1-0) is riding a five fight win-streak including back-to-back 1st round KO wins over Jimi Manuwa UFC 214 in Anaheim, CA and Misha Cirkunov at UFC Fight Night 109: Stockholm. A former undefeated professional Kickboxer in Europe, Oezdemir has yet to taste defeat in the UFC but if the promotion grants him his wish with a fight against “The Mauler” it’ll be the toughest fight in his entire career.

Former title challenger and No. 2 ranked light heavyweight Alexander “The Mauler”  Gustafsson (18-4-0) is coming off back-to-back victories of his own including a KO win over Glover Teixeira at UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Teixeira which earned him Fight of the Night honors and a cool $50K bonus. “The Mauler” has fought the best light heavyweights in the world coming up short against former champion Daniel Cormier and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. Some would argue Gustafsson gave light heavyweight champion and current pound-for-pound king Jon Jones his toughest fight to date during their match up at UFC 165 and Gustafsson can’t wait to run it back.
