Chiefs place OLB Tamba Hali on PUP
By Mike Dyce
The Kansas City Chiefs have placed outside linebacker Tamba Hali on the physically-unable-to-perform list.
Saturday is the NFL’s final roster cut day, and teams around the league are making transactions to get their active rosters down to just 53 players. The Kansas City Chiefs made a notable move, placing outside linebacker Tamba Hali on the physically-unable-to-perform list to start the season, according to the Kansas City Star.
Hali began training camp on the physically-unable-to-perform list, so it isn’t entirely shocking but it is confusing. Hali has repeatedly said he is healthy, but the Chiefs actions indicate otherwise. What injury Hali is dealing with and forcing him out of the active roster.

Last season Hali saw his role diminished last season and vented his frustrations on Twitter this offseason. The Chiefs moves could be a result of those verbal outbursts.
Hali has been an all-time great Chief, rarely missing games in his career, compiling 89.5 career sacks and deserves better treatment from the team.
The physically-unable-to-perform list will keep Hali out of the lineup for at least the first six weeks of the season, the first considerable stretch of games Hali will have missed in his career. While Hali can still participate in team meetings while on the PUP list, he cannot practice with the team during that stretch.
If the Chiefs don’t intend to have Hali play an active role in their team, why not put him on the trade market and see what you can get in return instead of harboring a disgruntled player and create a volatile and potentially distracting situation in the locker room.
