Michael Bennett seen forcefully arrested in Vegas (Video)
Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett was in Las Vegas for the McGregor-Mayweather fight, and claimed he was forcefully arrested afterwards. Now, there’s video.
After watching Floyd Mayweather defeat Conor McGregor in a boxing match on Aug. 26, Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett exited the arena. According to a letter he posted on Twitter, Bennett was walking outside when he heard what sounded like gunshots. Both he and those around him took off in the opposite direction of the noise.
However, Bennett alleged in his letter that he was tackled by police officers, who threatened to kill him if there was any movement. He was then forcefully arrested and put in a squad car until cleared of any wrongdoing. Bennett’s story now has video to back it up, per TMZ. Click the link to see the footage.
We can’t know for sure whether the arrest was made based on racial prejudice or a description given, but it’s a bad look for the Vegas Police. Additionally, there was little reason to act with such force against Bennett, who was clearly calm and not presenting a threat.
At some juncture, Americans have a responsibility to examine the current culture. Even if certain problems don’t impact your daily life, or mine, we all have to understand the failures of society and work to be better.

Continuing to dismiss situations like this, regardless of stance, is reckless. In 2017, we should be doing a much-improved job of protecting basic human rights for all, something that has been put over to the proverbial side for far too long.
Thankfully, Bennett is alright and nothing truly tragic occurred. Still, this needs to be looked into and addressed.
