Who are the top wide receiver sleepers for Week 1?

In this series, we identify players who you will want to find space for in your starting lineups this week. We cover names who aren’t on your list of “must-starts”, but could fit into gaps where you need a boost.

10. Kevin White

One of my top 10 waiver wire pickups for Week 1 was Kendall Wright, the veteran wide receiver who was picked up from the Titans this offseason. The reason behind his selection was clear: the Bears are in trouble at receiver since Cameron Meredith was lost for the season, and someone will need to step up. Wright is the cheapest option, but it’s White who the team has the highest hopes for.

White, a product of West Virginia, was drafted seventh overall by Chicago in the 2015 NFL draft, but you wouldn’t be able to tell he was a top ten pick just a couple of years based on the current feeling towards him by the fantasy football community. He missed the whole of his first year with a stress fracture in his left shin, but expectations were high heading into year two. It was a calamity, and White only played four games (19-187-0) before heading to the injured reserve again with a fractured fibula in the same leg as his previous injury.

Now, White is finally enough to play and currently sits at the top of the depth chart. Sunday’s game against Atlanta is one Chicago is expected to lose quite handily, and White could see a ton of targets because one: the team will want to involve him as much as possible and two: they should be playing catch up for most of the game.
