West Virginia Mountaineers 2-1

Last week: Win at Kansas, 56-34
Last rank: 3rd

After a Week 1 loss, West Virginia reeled off three consecutive wins. The most recent one came against Kansas, with an explosion for 56 points. Quarterback Will Grier shined, with 347 passing yards, while the running game had two players top 100 yards (Justin Crawford, Kennedy McKay).

The Mountaineers offense looked high-powered through four weeks and will face a big test against TCU in Week 5. Like other Big 12 games this weekend, this should be another shootout between top offenses.

A WVU win will push them closer to the top of the Big 12. However, a loss would make them 2-2 and provide a difficult road for the rest of the season, especially with Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech left on the schedule.

Oklahoma State Cowboys 2-1

Last week: Loss vs TCU, 44-31
Last rank: 2nd

For the first time in 2017, Oklahoma State fell off the No. 2 spot in the Big 12 rankings. They battled a very good TCU team, but were outscored by double-digit points, something that didn’t seem possible after their first three games of the season.

Quarterback Mason Rudolph had an okay game, with 398 yards. His two interceptions and a completion percentage just above 50 were the downfalls, as the Cowboys lost their footing in the conference race.

Another shootout will be on the way for Mike Gundy’s team. They’ll face the untested Texas Tech Red Raiders, an opportunity for a game of 100 total points scored. A poor performance may ruin Oklahoma State’s Big 12 chances, so how will they perform under pressure?
