Quenton Nelson

Offensive Guard, Notre Dame

The Atlanta Falcons blew a huge lead in Super Bowl 51, coughing up a 28-3 cushion and losing to the New England Patriots. That hangover has lasted through the first seven weeks of the NFL season, where they just do not look like the same team. A lot of that has to do with the fact that Kyle Shanahan is no longer their offensive coordinator, as the team has struggled to move the ball consistently this season.

If the season ended tomorrow, the Falcons would miss the playoffs, which is an incredible statement to say the least. The Falcons were dominant last season en-route to the Super Bowl, as Matt Ryan picked up his first NFL Most Valuable Player Award. They have the weapons they need to get back there, but something is definitely missing from this team this season.

With their first pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Falcons should look to bring in more talent on the offensive line. They need to make sure they are always protecting Matt Ryan, and Notre Dame offensive guard Quenton Nelson is the best in college football at his position. Atlanta will likely go on a run and make the playoffs this season, but if they are picking near the middle of the first round, Nelson would be a nice selection for a team that is based around their explosive offense.
