9. Keon Broxton

The Milwaukee Brewers can still take their offseason in multiple directions. Coming off a surprising season that saw them contend a year or two ahead of schedule, the Brew Crew has interest in adding another high-level starting pitcher (no, Yovani Gallardo doesn’t count) to help cover the potential loss of Jimmy Nelson for several months as he recovers from shoulder surgery. Milwaukee could also emerge as a surprise landing spot for a hitter like Christian Yelich.

With a stacked farm system that has eight players on MLB’s top-100 list and an active roster composed mostly of high-upside youngsters, the Brewers don’t have to spend big on one of the remaining free agents to improve their playoff hopes for 2018.

At 27, center fielder Keon Broxton no longer qualifies as a “prospect,” but he has still only scratched the surface of his potential at the big-league level. He hit .220/.299/.420 with 20 home runs and 21 stolen bases. If Broxton can do a better job controlling the strike zone, he may develop into an All-Star.

The Brewers are in a good spot with Broxton, as their top prospect in the minor leagues, Lewis Brinson, also plays center field. Right fielder Domingo Santana could also highlight a package to bring back an established star, but Milwaukee would have a much harder time parting with him after he hit 30 home runs with an .875 OPS in his first full season.
