2018 NBA Mock Draft: Mohamed Bamba could be the Suns’ last building block
I trust no one besides Spurs coach Gregg Popovich to handle Milton the right way.
So many guys like Milton have come through San Antonio’s program over the last twenty years — players with an un-molded skill set who emerge as contributors out of nowhere. There are examples even this year: Kyle Anderson, Bryn Forbes, even Danny Green filled that role once upon a time.
Milton has a lot of the skill Popovich loves. He is above-average as both a shooter and passer, with the length and intelligence to play good defense. Even within SMU’s zone, Milton’s defensive instincts show up each game. And in San Antonio, his lack of athleticism could be hidden, just as it is for about three-fourths of the Spurs’ roster.
It’s simply difficult to find a more well-rounded and effective player than Milton in the NCAA this year, and his fit in San Antonio is better than it would be elsewhere.
