Can’t we just enjoy this Pelicans team for who is playing right now?
By Keith Parish
There’s a month left in the NBA season, but the Pelicans would be hosting their first round series if the playoffs started today. Any way you cut it, that’s a big accomplishment for a team that hasn’t won a playoff game since they were called the Hornets.
Even more impressive is they have rebounded after DeMarcus Cousins tore his Achilles. They lost six of seven games immediately following the injury but are currently on a franchise-best 10 game winning streak. Unfortunately, a byproduct of their current success seems to be an outbreak of talking head-types pontificating about how losing Cousins may have helped New Orleans.
Can’t we just enjoy this remarkable run without making it another referendum on Boogie?
Apparently not. So to help kill off the “Better-without-Boogie” argument, Mason Ginsberg (@MasonGinsberg) from Bourbon Street Shots joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast. In addition to tackling the Cousins controversy, we cover the following additional topics:
- Why wasn’t Emeka Okafor able to find an NBA job for so long?
- Is Jrue Holiday the most over-looked player in the league? How many current Eastern Conference All-Stars is he better than or as good as?
- Speaking of divisive players, is there a consensus on whether Rajon Rondo is a net positive player for the Pelicans yet?
- Who will win the inaugural Riverboat Captain’s Belt for Pride, Glory and Dominion of Mississippi?
