NHL Power Rankings: Ducks soar, Maple Leafs in free fall
24. New York Rangers
The New York Rangers are an example of a team that is reloading instead of undergoing a full tear-down. They did ship out some important pieces at this year’s deadline, but they kept many others. Henrik Lundqvist is still one of the best goalies in the league and a dependable piece to build around. A quick addition of offensive talent and the Rangers will be competitive once again. The addition of Vladislav Namestnikov was an important one; it gives the Rangers a young, dynamic offensive threat to build around. He isn’t the answer but a big piece to the puzzle.
The Rangers just finished up a tough week, playing three highly competitive teams. The Winnipeg Jets are looking like one of the top teams in the Western Conference. The Tampa Bay Lightning are the top team in the Eastern Conference and the Florida Panthers are the hottest team in the league. The Rangers have fallen all the way down to the bottom of the Metropolitan Division as they begin their rebuilding this offseason, and a high draft pick will go a long way for the organization. The Metro Division is highly competitive, so they will need all the talent they can get moving forward.
