Fortnite Battle Royale continues to dominate the gaming world, and you are logging some serious hours with the squad. Here’s how to tell if you are playing a little too much.

Fortnite has never been bigger. The multiplayer Battle Royale game is taking over households everywhere. The game’s most famous player, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, surpassed Christiano Ronaldo in social media interactions for the month of April. As the game expands, so does it’s fanbase. But when it comes down to it, how do you know if you are playing too much?

We aren’t talking about how your husband or wife tells you you are playing too much, we’re talking about finding out where the line between fun hobby and full-blown addiction is. Was there ever a time where such a simple game could consume so many hours so easily? Most people who play won’t actually stop until responsibility catches up with them or they are too tired to keep their eyes open. Fortnite becomes a bit of an addiction. Which begs the question, are you playing too much?

“Blasphemy! There is no such thing as too much Fortnite!” Contrary to this popular belief, there are some signs that you may need to dip out of Risky Reels and back into risky real life. Here are five signs that you may be logging a few too many trips on the battle bus:

You know where chests would be located every time you walk into a house

If you can walk through any house and mentally point out where the hypothetical loot would be hidden (it’s easy; one chest in the attic, one above the garage and an ammo box under the stairs) then you might be playing too much. This point goes far beyond just knowing about the chests though. If you are a true gamer, you’ll know everything. Here are a few examples:

Your friend is telling you that they are going to take down the wall to make an open concept kitchen and your immediate thought is, “Take the fence down instead, fence wood is faster to chop down and provides more resources.”

They then tell you that they are going to build a small shed in the back yard to provide some storage and a bit of privacy from the neighboring yard, but you are thinking this would be an ideal time for a port-a-fort instead.

You’re thinking in Fortnite. While this is a good way to keep your game sharp when you are away from the console or computer, it is also problematic, as nothing you are thinking will provide any positive input to the conversation. Do not suppress these thoughts, though. Stay sharp and focused on Fortnite at all times. When the apocalypse comes, everyone will be looking to you for your great building skills and resourcefulness. Plus, you definitely aren’t the only one who thinks this way:

Is this a problem?

No. We all do this. Just like when you were a child on long road trips and you imagined someone running/biking/skateboarding/etc next to the vehicle, doing sweet jumps over driveways.

(Right? You thought you were the only one that did this, didn’t you?)

Fortnite is sparking your long-suppressed imagination and bringing it to a place that it hasn’t been since the invention of smart phones childhood. Embrace it.
