This Masshole

Is there anything on Earth more annoying than a Massachusetts sports fan? Cheering for a single Boston-area team is bad enough, but having to deal with someone who cheers for all four of them is another level of pain.

The big problem here is that the teams are so damn successful. Children growing up in Massachusetts don’t understand what it is like to lose anymore. How can these mini-Massholes truly appreciate a championship when one of their four teams wins one every season?

Anyone over 30 who grew up in the area will tell you Boston wasn’t always this successful. There were dark years.

Bullshit. The dark years were after the Boston Celtics won every title from 1955 to 1975. The dark years included Larry Bird’s entire career. The dark years included Cam Neely and Roger Clemens, among others. The dark years were also well worth the Boston greats that came after it in Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, David Ortiz, Pedro Martinez, Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron, Tim Thomas, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Brad Stevens, etc.

Every city on earth would trade histories with you, Boston. So don’t ever let anyone hear you complain when one of your teams loses in a playoff game/series because it was a “down year.” Keep being loud, arrogant and  obnoxious though, we all love having someone to hate!
