The first weekend of June leaves boxing fans with a lack of main event action. Here are three fights to watch to help fill the void of a single marquee bout.

Every diehard boxing fan looks forward to the weekend’s boxing action. Boxing is undergoing a rebirth in the U.S. ESPN, Showtime, HBO and other channels are televising competitive and entertaining bouts between boxings best.

On Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9, there are numerous headliners batling. Mike Lee returns against Jose Hernandez. Terence Crawford fights Jeff Horn for his WBO welterweight title. Leo Santa Cruz and Abner Mares meet in a rematch, and Jermell Charlo defends his WBC junior middleweight title.

Next weekend is action-packed, but this weekend boxing is dormant. There’s not a single big name as the main event.

Despite the lack of A-level talent, there are several obscure boxing matches that could be entertaining. The names in this slideshow are relative unknowns who aren’t prospects yet. They are fighting to establish themselves as prospects. These bouts feature boxers who are trying to move up from the sport’s basement. They dream of one day being household names.

It’s easy for fight fans to look past the boxers featured here, but everyone is unknown until they earn a reputation. All of these boxers are trying to do just that. Every man who steps in the ring deserves respect because they put their physical wellbeing on the line as they fight for glory and fame.

Don’t pass these fights up or you might miss boxing’s next up-and-comer.
