6. Pittsburgh Steelers

It was tempting to put the Steelers further back. Le’Veon Bell is sitting out the entire summer, Ryan Shazier is unfortunately gone, and the Mike Tomlin experience seemed to reach a crossroads during Pittsburgh’s meltdown against Jacksonville.

The Steelers are incredibly talented on the offensive side, but the defense resembles a strainer. At some point, Pittsburgh is going to begin sliding back with Ben Roethlisberger getting older and Tomlin’s message wearing thin. Still, the talent is there and the AFC North stinks.

5. Los Angeles Rams

The Rams could absolutely win the Super Bowl, but they ahve a ton of moving parts to figure out. The additions of Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, Ndamukong Suh and Brandin Cooks are fantastic, but can it all come together? It’s a ton to make happen so quickly.

All that said, the Rams are one of the most talented teams in the game. Sean McVay is a terrific young coach and there’s no reason to doubt Jared Goff taking another step forward.

4. New Orleans Saints

Giving the Saints the nod over the Rams because we know who they are. New Orleans finally found a defense to go with the incredible Drew Brees. Losing Mark Ingram for the first four games isn’t fun, but Alvin Kamara should be able to carry the mail in the meantime.

The biggest question dogging the Saints revolves around the golden right arm of Brees. He’s getting into the twilight of his career. Can he hold up for one more season in the sun?
