Porter has been smart about how he handles his pre-draft process, if indeed he knows he has enough interest from teams in the lottery to withstand the concerns about his health. All signs are pointing to Chicago.

In a story about Porter’s brother, Jontay, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Michael underwent a physical exam for the Bulls and, instead of doing the same for the rest of the teams interested in him, will simply release the information gathered by the Bulls to the league’s other 29 teams. Porter also worked out in a Pro Day last Friday with an open invitation to the league.

The other factor that makes Porter-to-Chicago seem inevitable is that the 19-year-old (Porter turns 20 two days before the draft) has reportedly been living and practicing in Chicago since leaving Missouri in order to be closer to the company, Priority Sports, that represents him. He is clearly comfortable with Chicago, the Bulls and his likelihood of getting drafted in the lottery.

There are better fits for his talent, considering Bulls stud Lauri Markkanen is a similar offensive player, such as Cleveland or Dallas. But for a player who has gone from committing to Washington, heading to Missouri at the last minute and then injuring his back and missing the majority of his only college season, it’s understandable that Porter might prioritize comfort and trust.

Hopefully it works out.
