Fantasy Football Off-Season Overview – Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals are a team in transition. Bruce Arians is gone, Arizona got into the rookie quarterback game by drafting UCLA’s Josh Rosen, and the red birds are picked by just about everybody to finish last in the ultra-competitive NFC West.

Arizona does boast one of the most explosive options at running back in David Johnson, and the man who just won’t go away in Larry Fitzgerald.

Fitz just keeps on doing it, and at a high level. Despite being 34 years old, he turned in an 1,100 yard, 6 TD performance last year, and has shown no signs of slowing down. Even playing with quarterbacks like John Skelton, Drew Stanton, Blaine Gabbert and others hasn’t stopped Fitzgerald from putting up great numbers, so I have no reason to tell you that he can’t get it done with Sam Bradford throwing to him.

More from FanSided

I don’t think that the 2018 version of the Arizona Cardinals will win many games, but there are some gems on the roster that can help your fantasy team.

I Gotta Get Me One of Those!

I don’t have to look any farther to fill this section than David Johnson.

After missing almost all of last year due to injury, Johnson comes in looking to repeat his 2016 that saw 2,100 yards from scrimmage and 20 touchdowns. Those are BLISTERING totals.

Not Le’Veon Bell, not Todd Gurley, not Ezekiel Elliott, but DAVID JOHNSON sits as my number one fantasy running back for 2018. All formats. All metrics. If you can take him, take him.

Buyer Beware

This one is easy, too. Quarterback might be as deep as I’ve seen it. Especially in the NFC. There are loads of options later in the draft to take a very solid quarterback, as the NFL continues its transition into a pass-heavy league.

The Arizona Cardinals are exceptions.

Whether it’s Sam Bradford or Josh Rosen, don’t expect big things from the Cards at QB in 2018. Rosen might end up being a great quarterback, but it will be a while before it happens. If you want to take him in a rookie draft for dynasty, fine, but neither QB should be on your radar at all in redraft.

Stay Woke

The Cardinals’ defense is full of young, athletic stars who are just waiting to break out. It’s been a couple of years since we could say it, but Arizona D should be able to catapult itself back into the top 7-10 defenses in fantasy this year.
