Edge. Boston College. Zach Allen. 11. player. 42.

When it comes to the San Francisco 49ers, all eyes are on Jimmy Garoppolo, who the team traded for at the  trade deadline last season. All Jimmy G did when inserted into the lineup is win football games, taking the 1-11 49ers to finish the season with six wins, and heading into Sunday, he had gone 7-0 as a starter overall in the NFL.

Well, unfortunately for 49ers fans, Garoppolo came down to earth a bit in Week 1, as the Minnesota Vikings defense proved to be too much for him. The 49ers lost their opener on the road, but they should be fine, and will likely be battling it out for a Wild Card spot during the 2018 season.

When it comes to their draft position next April, the thought is they will be picking closer to the middle of the first round, so their slot here is a bit early. Still, no matter where they pick in 2019, they need to do something to add some talent to the defensive side of the ball, especially on the edges.

During his time at Boston College, Zach Allen has established himself as one of the best edge rushers in college football, and there is a lot of hype surrounding him this season. He is a guy who will definitely go in the first round, and with a need on the edge, the 49ers would be lucky to grab him to bolster that defensive line in San Fran.
