Napoli face Liverpool at the San Paolo on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

The second Champions League match day gets underway this week. In one of the marquee games, Napoli host Liverpool at the San Paolo on Wednesday. The Serie A runners-up drew with Red Star Belgrade in Serbia in their first game. Liverpool opened their Champions League campaign with a 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield.

The Little Donkeys are again second in Serie A, trailing Juventus by six points after losing to the reigning Italian champions 3-1 on Saturday. The result was disappointing for Napoli, who entered the game knowing if they wanted to end Juventus’ Serie A dominance, they needed to win.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side turn their attention to Champions League. After failing to get out of the group stage last year, Napoli know they will have to beat Liverpool and PSG to advance. The Italian side will get their first chance against Liverpool on Wednesday. Napoli will rely on their front three of Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne, and Jose Callejon. Insigne leads the club with five goals this season, while Mertens and Callejon have had slow starts combining for only two goals.

The big test for Napoli will be their defense. The Little Donkeys back four picked up four yellow cards against Juventus, with Mario Rui being sent off with two yellow cards. Ancelotti will rely on Kalidou Koulibaly to organize the back four against Liverpool’s attack.

Liverpool required a late goal from Daniel Sturridge to steal a point from Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The draw was the first time that Liverpool have dropped points this season. The Reds are tied with Manchester City for first in the Premier League after seven games.

After struggling with depth last season, Jurgen Klopp spent the summer upgrading his reserves. The summer additions allowed Klopp to rotate his midfield against Chelsea, starting with Naby Keita on the bench and leaving Fabinho on the bench. The extra rest should help both players with the game on Wednesday. Liverpool’s success this season will be dependent on the front three filling the back of the net. Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have combined for 10 goals this season. After each player scored 10 Champions League goals to help lead Liverpool to the Champions League final, the bar has been set very high for all three players.
