Ranking the top 25 NFL free agents this offseason
By Ian Wharton
16. Lamarcus Joyner, S, Los Angeles Rams
It wasn’t a great year for the franchise-tagged Lamarcus Joyner despite the Rams pumping significant talent into the corner position last offseason. Joyner wasn’t bad, as he played more in his older role than his 2017 role, but the playmaking deserted him and he seemed responsible for coverage breakdowns at several points in the year.
Joyner is ideally a slot safety for any team interested. His durability and playmaking are question marks and limits his value. Still, he can be a very good team defender and provide a spark for contenders.
Projected deal: Three years, $25 million
Best fits: Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers
