In news that should shock absolutely no one who follows the Vikings closely, the next player on our list of targets is also an offensive lineman. Starting right tackle Rashod Hill is slated to become a free agent, and the Vikings would be wise to upgrade at that position.

The best right tackle on the market is Veldheer, who spent last year with the Denver Broncos after being acquired in a trade from the Arizona Cardinals. Veldheer is a solid and steady presence at right tackle, which can only help a Vikings’ team which wants to rely more on the running game going forward.

The Broncos had the 12th best rushing offense in the league despite relying on rookie running backs Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay, which is a credit to the offensive line. Veldheer was one of the better performers on that line, and he would be a significant help to Minnesota as well.

The Vikings likely don’t have enough cap space to upgrade both tackle spots in free agency, so they may look to sign either Brown or Veldheer while drafting a player to fill the other spot. Veldheer is older and should command less money in free agency than Brown, so he will be a more logical fit if the Vikings decide to spend their money elsewhere.
