Minnesota Vikings

Grade: B+

Best pick: Garrett Bradbury (C, NC State)

Questionable pick: Austin Cutting (LS, Air Force)

Sleeper pick: Alexander Mattison (RB, Boise State)

Minnesota came into the draft with a clear agenda to improve their ability to run the ball, and backed it up with two offensive linemen, a tight end and a running back with the team’s first four selections. NC State’s Garrett Bradbury is an excellent fit in the Vikings’ running game and has excellent athleticism for his size. Bradbury should start from day one of his Minnesota career at center and along with Brian O’Neill, provide the Vikings with two excellent young building blocks on the line for the future.

Boise State’s Alexander Mattison was one of the more underrated running backs in the class and should help to prevent wear on the tires of Dalvin Cook. Mattison doesn’t have home-running hitting ability but is a patient, decisive runner who can be utilized in a number of different ways. His durability and penchant for short-yardage situations should make him a valuable asset for helping to keep Dalvin Cook healthy and fresh over the course of the season.

While the Vikings could have potentially invested some more draft capital in the defensive line, overall they did a good job at adding help at positions of need without really reaching to any significant degree.
