Ranking the 50 most visually-appealing college football uniforms
By Zach Bigalke
After flirting with a variety of alternative looks during the Kevin Sumlin era in College Station, Texas A&M has returned to a more exclusively traditional wardrobe under current head coach Jimbo Fisher. The Aggies boast one of the most identifiable logos in college football and a maroon and white color scheme that is striking without being flashy.
As a result, Texas A&M brings simple elegance to the gridiron as one of the best-dressed teams in the sport. Key to pulling off the two-tone look is the use of two different helmets in the regular rotation, one with the team logo in white on a maroon helmet and the other with the same logo in maroon on a white base.
Though they no longer incorporate the alternatives that they brought into the uniform closet under Sumlin, the Aggies still do occasionally pull out the throwback uniforms. In most cases, they end up looking even more conservative than an already-conservative primary design.
Conservative, though, is not necessarily an insult — especially when it comes to football uniforms. Too much deviation from an iconic look can backfire, and Texas A&M has rediscovered the maroon and white identity that has been their hallmark throughout the team’s history.
