NFL quarterback rankings, Week 2: Patrick Mahomes isn’t human
Ken Anderson Division
12. Baker Mayfield (LW: 14)
Mayfield moves up because of attrition, but he needs to play much better. After three good quarters against the Titans in Week 1, Mayfield threw three interceptions. On Monday night, Mayfield was sub-par against a woeful Jets team. Where is the guy we saw a year ago?
11. Matt Ryan (LW: 11)
Ryan almost cost the Falcons on Sunday night with two brutal interceptions, but bounced back late for a 24-20 win. Atlanta has a poor offensive line, so the statuesque quarterback is at a disadvantage. Still, Ryan has to play better or he’ll start dropping. Five interceptions in two games is awful.
10. Jared Goff (LW: 12)
Goff was barely talked about all offseason when discussing the best young players in the game. Then, the Rams signed him to a long-term extension, and they’ve seen two wins and a solid individual start, including 469 passing yards on seven yards per attempt. Goff can be better, but this isn’t a poor first few games.
9. Lamar Jackson (LW: 15)
Jackson is right up there for early MVP talk. While his games have been against the Dolphins and Cardinals, the second-year man has racked up 596 passing yards and seven touchdowns without a turnover. Very impressive.
