NFL quarterback rankings, Week 2: Patrick Mahomes isn’t human
Terry Bradshaw Division
8. Deshaun Watson (LW: 10)
Watson has absolutely no protection in Houston. The Texans invested 809 first-round picks and have still allowed 10 sacks. Yet somehow, Watson has played well with 427 yards and three touchdowns, even after a down performance against Jacksonville.
7. Carson Wentz (LW: 9)
Wentz only moves up the list because of injuries to Drew Brees, Sam Darnold and Ben Roethlisberger. Frankly, the best quarterback on the field for Philadelphia on Sunday night was Josh McCown. I kid. Wentz played much better in the second half, but the first half can’t happen if you’re an elite talent, which Wentz is.
6. Dak Prescott (LW: 8)
Prescott has to be counting the money he’s made since the preseason. The Cowboys are 2-0, the offense is better than ever under his watch and the Dolphins are coming to town. Prescott has been sublime, completing 82.3 percent of his throws for 674 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception. Oh, and he’s leading the league at 10.9 yards per attempt.
5. Philip Rivers (LW: 4)
Rivers has to fall out of the top division after Sunday’s showing. The Chargers lost a dismal 13-10 game to the Lions, and Rivers sealed his team’s fate with an ugly interception into double-coverage. Rivers is a great player, but he had a tough week.
