October has arrived and the Yankees are determined to break their World Series drought. For that to happen, New York must do these five things to win the ALDS.

No member of the Yankees organization has made any secret of what the team’s singular goal was entering the 2019 season. It’s World Series title or bust for the Bronx Bombers. The first team standing in their way happens to be the Minnesota Twins.

Any Yankee fan who thinks their favorite team has a free pass to the ALCS is sorely mistaken. The Twins are a very dangerous team that has the full attention of Aaron Boone and his entire squad. If the Yankees are going to play for the pennant, they’ll need to do the following five things. Failure to complete any of these steps could lead to a long offseason in the Bronx.

5. Win at Yankee Stadium

This may seem obvious to a lot of people, but the Yankees need to capitalize on their home field advantage in this series. Fortunately, the atmosphere in New York should be positively electric every time the Yankees take the field there in the postseason.

Conversely, the fans in Minnesota will be riled up when New York comes to town as well. It’s very possible that the home team is going to be favored in every game of the series. That means the Yankees absolutely have to win every time they play at home. Any game they drop at Yankee Stadium is going to give the Twins a ton of confidence.

Winning at home is also particularly important to the Yankees because doing so will give them a chance to end the series relatively early. Heading to Minnesota with a 2-0 lead in the series would be huge boost for the Yankees’ confidence. Leaving New York tied at 1-1 would likely result in a long, protracted series against the talented Twins roster.
