Johnny Manziel is investigated for an autograph scandal
During his time at Texas A&M (and, in all honesty, everywhere he went), Johnny Manziel was seemingly a lightning rod for the controversy he generated from his own actions as well as controversial hot takes from fans and talking heads alike.
Manziel, heading into the 2013 season, had come off of a Heisman-winning season and the Texas A&M Aggies were hoping to win a national title. After all, then No. 7 A&M had defeated Alabama in Bryant Denny Stadium the season before and Manziel was the type of talent who could help the Aggies win it all in 2013.
But Manziel was starting the 2013 season by sitting on the bench. Johnny Manziel was suspended for the first half of the 2013 season opener against Rice after the NCAA investigated Manziel for allegedly signing autographs in exchange for money.
And that half-game suspension was, well, the end of this scandal. However, it was far from being the final scandal that Manziel would have a part in.
