2. Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma

Things were certainly not perfect for Jalen Hurts and Oklahoma on Saturday night in Waco. Three turnovers from Hurts (one interception, two fumbles) helped put the Sooners behind the 8-ball against previously unbeaten Baylor, trailing 28-3 midway through the second quarter. But while he had turnover issues, Hurts was also the catalyst for Oklahoma’s monster comeback against the Bears, guiding them to an unlikely victory given the star to the contest.

In the 34-31 win, Hurts finished the night going 30-of-42 for 297 yards and four touchdowns while also accruing 114 rushing yards as well. Even with the three giveaways, it was a heroic effort by the quarterback, especially with CeeDee Lamb not playing for the Sooners.

Hurts now has 3,039 yards passing with 28 touchdowns and five interceptions in addition to 983 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. Those kinds of numbers keep you in the Heisman mix, without question.

1. Joe Burrow, QB, LSU

Another week, another ridiculous stat-line for Joe Burrow. In a game where the LSU defense decided not to fully show up as they conceded 37 points to Ole Miss, the Tigers quarterback continued to play the role of the star as he went 32-of-42 for 489 yards and five touchdowns on the road against the Rebels, though he did throw two interceptions on the night.

Burrow’s numbers for the 2019 season continue to pop off the page, though. He’s now thrown for 3,687 yards, 38 touchdowns and only six interceptions while also rushing for three scores as well. He’s been the spark to ignite the No. 1 team in college football this season and, quite frankly, he’s already locked up the 2019 Heisman Trophy at this point.
