2. Minnesota Vikings

Kirk Cousins is having an excellent season, the best season of his career by many measures, as Gary Kubiak has had a great influence on the Vikings’ offense in collaboration with offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski. But the team also has a decision looming on Cousins, with 2020 as the final year of his three-year, $84 million deal. Do they extend him at some point during the offseason, or play it out next year and be ready to move on? A less likely third option is to play things out in 2020 and ultimately bring Cousins back when he hits the market again.

In any case, the Vikings should be thinking about their quarterback plan beyond next season. That may mean drafting someone in April, with the chance that young quarterback will become the starter in 2021, or acquiring another younger quarterback who may be available.

As the Cardinals seemed set to move Rosen, there was a case for the Vikings to trade for him and install him as Cousins’ backup/possible future replacement this year. A second chance to make that move is looming now, and if anything the price will be less than what Miami gave up. Don’t sleep on Minnesota as the ultimate landing spot for Rosen.
