Chicago Bulls: Find a new head coach
This is not complicated. If it weren’t for the Hawks, the Chicago Bulls would be the most disappointing team in the East, and they may still hold that title considering how tumultuous a viewing experience they’ve become.
The source of that tension, aside from the underwhelming start, is the old-school approach of head coach Jim Boylen. The Bulls have lacked a discernible franchise star during the early stages of this rebuild, but the closest things they’ve had to one — Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen — have stagnated. They have too much talent to be this bad on offense, even with Otto Porter Jr. banged up.
Chicago ranks sixth in defensive rating, so at least the team has an identity. Unfortunately, that shouldn’t be enough to keep Boylen in charge considering the Bulls boast the NBA’s 29th-ranked offense, a 13-22 record and the highest likelihood of another mutiny being levied against their head coach. Admit that extension was a mistake, cut the cord and move on.
