NBA Rising Stars Challenge 2020 live stream: How to watch online
By Ian Levy
The NBA Rising Stars Challenge is a chance to watch some of the league’s brightest up-and-coming stars do their thing. Here’s how to watch.
The main events of All-Star weekend tend to hit predictable rhythms but you never really know what to expect from the NBA Rising Stars Challenge. In a U.S. vs. World format, we get a look at up-and-coming stars right alongside solid role players, figuring out the hierarchy in real-time. It’s especially interesting to see the clusters of players for different teams — this year three Hornets will be on the U.S. roster, while two Grizzlies on the U.S. roster will face off against a Memphis teammate on the World roster.
Trae Young and Luka Doncic are the focal points for their respective rosters and they’ve clearly established themselves as a tier above most of the rest of the players here. But the most fun piece of the whole affair might be a chance to see Ja Morant and Zion Williamson on the same team, a combination that will almost certainly appear in numerous All-Star Games over the next few years.
U.S. roster
Miles Bridges (Hornets)
Wendell Carter Jr. (Bulls)
Devonte’ Graham (Hornets)
Jaren Jackson Jr. (Grizzlies)
Ja Morant (Grizzlies)
Kendrick Nunn (Heat)
Eric Paschall (Warriors)
Collin Sexton (Cavaliers)
P.J. Washington (Hornets)
Zion Williamson (Pelicans)
Trae Young (Hawks)
Tyler Herro (Heat, inured will not play)
World roster
Nickeil Alexander-Walker (Pelicans)
Deandre Ayton (Suns)
R.J. Barrett (Knicks)
Brandon Clarke (Grizzlies)
Luka Doncic (Mavericks)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder)
Rui Hachimura (Wizards)
Svi Mykhailiuk (Pistons)
Josh Okogie (Timberwolves)
Moritz Wagner (Wizards)
The star power here definitely seems to be tilted towards the U.S. roster, especially if you consider that Luka Doncic and Trae Young are unlikely to play significant minutes with the big game to play on Sunday. Still, it should be a fun look at some of the league’s up-and-coming stars, along with the relationships and rivalries that are taking root among them.
