9th Overall: Jacksonville Jaguars – Javon Kinlaw (DT – South Carolina)

Team Needs
Defensive Tackle, Cornerback, Wide Receiver, Quarterback, Offensive Line, Tight End, Running Back, Linebacker

Picks: 9 (1st), 20 (1st), 42 (2nd), 73 (3rd), 116 (4th), 118 (4th), 166 (5th), 189 (6th), 206 (6th), 224 (7th)

Javon Kinlaw is a perfect system fit for the Jacksonville Jaguars. A havoc creator with a great first step, Kinlaw will inject a heavy dose of talent to the Jaguars defensive interior. His presence will allow the Jaguars to have a day one starter on the inside, and will also serve to help withstand the eventual retirement of Calais Campbell. The Jaguars could go defensive end here as they are expected to lose Yannick Ngakoue to free agency, but there is much greater depth on the edge than there is at defensive tackle. With Okudah off the board, there is no value at cornerback in the top 10. The Jaguars will be best served to wait until 20th overall to address the secondary.

Team Impact

With the Jaguars likely to be strong armed into trading Yannick Ngakoue, the Jaguars will be moving Calais Campbell back out to the edge full time. The Jaguars already have Josh Allen to replace Ngakoue, and will have a new need at defensive tackle. This hole will become even more glaring if the Jaguars move on from Marcel Daereus. Jacksonville still has 2018 first round pick Taven Bryan on the roster, but he has not developed as quickly as the team had hoped. Kinlaw and Josh Allen will be a great start to the Jaguars hopes of rebuilding their defensive line. Adding Kinlaw here will not prevent the Jaguars from adding a second defensive tackle later in a surprisingly deep, but top heavy draft class at the defensive tackle position.

Fantasy Impact

Javon Kinlaw will immediately make his way to the DT1 conversation in redraft leagues if he lands in Jacksonville. He will be afforded a near every down role for the Jaguars and will have the benefit of playing with at least two players who will command more offensive line attention that he does. Kinlaw is a surefire DT1 in dynasty leagues, and is someone who should be targeted as soon as the late third round in IDP heavy leagues that has one or more defensive tackle starting positions.
