Round 5, Pick 183

Original Selection: Ukeme Eligwe, LB – Georgia Southern

New Selection: D.J. Jones, DT – Ole Miss

There isn’t much to say about Eligwe. He only lasted a year with the Chiefs, turning in five tackles. He bounced around to a few teams and hasn’t logged any regular-season snaps since 2018.

Jones, on the other hand, has provided a lot of value for the 49ers. He started out as a rotational player before moving into a starting role for San Francisco last season. Unfortunately, Jones’ season was cut short at 11 games due to injury. Still, he was a starter for a formidable 49ers defense that led the team to a Super Bowl appearance.

Jones has been especially strong against the run, an area of weakness for the Chiefs. Before his injury, Jones logged 19 tackles, two sacks and a force fumble. He would have been a terrific value pick for Kansas City at the end of round five. Instead, he went to the 49ers at No. 198 in the sixth round.
