Devin Singletary: What is his fantasy ceiling for 2020?

Running back Devin Singletary is coming off a good rookie season with the Buffalo Bills. How good can he be next year? What is his fantasy football ceiling?

Devin Singletary is a promising running back for the Buffalo Bills coming off is rookie year out of Florida Atlantic. The Bills made the AFC playoffs last season, as he had 151 carries for 775 yards, but only two rushing touchdowns. What is Singletary’s fantasy football ceiling entering the 2020 NFL season?

The Fantasy Footballers like Singletary a lot as a young running back in the league, but do have their concerns about his lack of trips to pay dirt, his depleted usage in goal-line spots and how much of a factor he will be as a receiver out of the backfield. However, they think if it all hits for him in year two he can be a top-12 back in fantasy football leagues across the globe.

Jason Moore compared him to Phillip Lindsay of the Denver Broncos from an overall fantasy standpoint. He sees Singletary as the type of back who will be a bell-cow and will have a productive day between the 20s. The problem with this is he’ll end up with 70 rushing yards, no touchdowns and only seven fantasy points out of your high-end RB2 position. That’s not great.

However, the guys do believe Singletary will get more opportunities in the red zone in Brian Daboll’s offense in 2020. With Frank Gore still out there on the market as a free agent, Singletary won’t be challenged for goal-line carries as often as he was by the future Pro Football Hall of Famer. The Bills still have T.J. Yeldon, who will get his carries, but not as many as Gore did last year.

They believe Singletary’s lack of size can be overcome with his inherent shiftiness. All he’ll need to do is make a tackler miss once to find daylight to scamper into the end zone from five years out or less. In short, Singletary will end up with more than two rushing touchdowns next season. He’s too important to the Bills’ overall offensive philosophy for him to not find pay dirt consistently.

Ultimately, there’s no way to deny it, as Singletary has a high fantasy football ceiling. If he is able to tap into all that potential in year two out of Florida Atlantic is a totally different story. As long as the Bills play great defensive for head coach Sean McDermott and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, Singletary will have plenty of opportunities to pound the rock and prosper in fantasy.
