New York Giants 2020 mock draft: Full 7 rounds
By Conor Dorney
5th round
Safety will be an early-round target for the Giants, but in this scenario, other needs take precedence.
Iowa’s Geno Stone is fun to watch on tape and excels at playing downhill in run support. He could become a valuable defender in dime packages and on special teams early in his career.
6th round
The Giants shelled out big money to Blake Martinez in free agency but still need to add depth behind him.
Virginia’s Jordan Mack is an intriguing athlete with enough size and durability to stick at inside linebacker. He’s an extremely instinctual player who had his share of production despite underwhelming athletic traits.
7th round
The Alabama connection continues for the Giants with Shyheim Carter in round seven.
Assistant coach Burton Burns helped to recruit Carter to Alabama and that connection could prove fruitful on Day 3.
Georgia’s Tyler Clark was a surprising omission from the Combine, but that doesn’t bother the Giants on Day 3. The powerful defensive tackle gets added to an improved New York pass rush with the second of the team’s four seventh-round picks.
The former Penn State grad transfer gets plucked by the Giants in round seven to provide depth behind Daniel Jones. Stephens is a good athlete for his size and has plenty of arm talent, much like Jones.
New running backs coach Burton Burns loved him some big, freaky athletes in his time at Alabama. TCU’s Sewo Olonilua checks those boxes.
The Giants need someone to spell Saquon Barkley on tough, short-yardage situations, and Olonilua is that guy.
