1. Cleveland Browns

Cleveland’s rumored interest in Vikings’ franchise tagged safety Anthony Harris shows they’re in the market at the position, and it’s now easy to tie getting him to Odell Beckham Jr. trade speculation. They did sign Andrew Sendejo and Karl Joseph as reinforcements in free agency, but if there’s a chance to add Adams general manager Andrew Berry can’t be shy.

The Browns are unlikely to part with the No. 10 pick in this year’s draft in any trade for a veteran  (Adams or anyone else), and they shouldn’t have to when it comes down to it. Maybe No. 41 in the second round and one of their two third-round picks (No. 74 and No. 97) would be enough to get Adams.

There’s also this report, which should give the Browns an extra second-round pick this year? And more picks in future years to consider parting with?

Cleveland has the most cap space in the league right now, as much as that’s a non-issue with Adams set to make a total of $3.5 million this year. But they should have plenty of room to give him the type of long-term contract he seeks, which is likely to set a new bar for safeties.

On even the faint notion the Jets will be willing to re-engage on a trade, plenty of teams will be trying to figure out a way to add him now and keep him in the fold for a long time to come. The Browns may have to win a bidding war on the surface, but they hold a solid “we can make you the highest paid safety in the league by a good margin” card.
