Houston Texans 2020 NFL Draft grades: Ross Blacklock joins J.J. Watt
By Matt Conner
A wrist injury in 2018 is likely what kept Jonathan Greenard from being taken higher even in 2020 given that there was a lack of development in that span and even some residual worries in 2019, but the Texans did very well to recognize the potential here of a strong three-down defensive end who can set the edge well.
Greenard has a great first step, decent burst, solid bend, and the instinctive moves to collapse the pocket and disrupt the play in the backfield.
Last year, Greenard was named first-team All SEC after putting up 9.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss for the Gators. Give him further time away from the injury and more recognition with pro reps along with stronger technique and Greenard could be seen as a third round steal in a few years.
