Best Pick: Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina

The 49ers had a need in the middle of the defensive line after trading DeForest Buckner to the Colts. The pick they got from Indianapolis was used to select his replacement, who will be a perfect fit. He is athletic, big, strong, and will make an impact right away.

Kinlaw is going to start or be in the mix when San Francisco takes the field in week 1, and he was clearly the player they wanted. Kinlaw is a stud, otherwise the 49ers could have traded down for more picks, as they went three rounds with no picks.

Worst Pick: Colton McKivitz, OT, West Virginia

Joe Staley has retired, but the 49ers already have his replacement. The team acquired Trent Williams from the Washington Redskins during the course of the draft. They lacked a ton of picks entering the draft, and made know picks between the second and fourth rounds.

With their next pick, the 49ers may have been able to find a player that can be more of a difference maker in the more immediate future than offensive tackle Colton McKivitz. He will need a lot of time to develop NFL caliber skills.

Grade: C-

The 49ers were in a tough spot with their lack of picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. They did a great job getting their guys in Kinlaw and Aiyuk early, but the lack of picks means they still have holes left to fill.

They could have traded down for more picks, but they must believe those two are players that help right now as they make a run towards the Super Bowl once again.
