NFL schedule 2020: Biggest game for all 32 teams
Los Angeles Rams: vs. Seattle Seahawks
There is a reason people say the NFL really stands for “not for long” and the poster child of that is the Los Angeles Rams. Just two years ago the Rams looked poised to build a dynasty after getting to the Super Bowl and losing to the New England Patriots.
The Rams began 2019 3-0 but slumped in the middle of the season, ultimately falling short of the postseason with a 9-7 record. Poor decision making by the Los Angeles front office left the Rams capped out, leading to a roster decimation this offseason.
Todd Gurley was one of several key players to get released while key edge rusher Dante Fowler walked for a lucrative deal in free agency. The emergence of the San Francisco 49ers, in addition to the continued excellence of the Seattle Seahawks, also makes the path forward for the Rams even more difficult.
The 49ers are in a class of their own at the moment so the Rams need to focus on catching up to the Seahawks. Seattle split their season series with Los Angeles a year ago with the Rams picking up an emphatic home win in Week 14.
Duplicating that feat this season would be a good first step for the Rams, who need a bounceback year to get back on track in the fourth year of the Sean McVay-Jared Goff partnership. Getting past the Seahawks in the standings is probably the biggest factor in a return to the playoffs for Los Angeles.
