NFC East: Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles

One rivalry that routinely ranks as one of the best in the NFL is the one between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. It prominently features the two most important things when it comes to a football rivalry: Concurrent regular-season success and a never-ending supply of rampant animosity going both ways.

Through the 2019 NFL season, these teams have met 122 times, including three times in the playoffs. Dallas holds a 69-53 edge in this series, beating the Eagles three times in four chances in the postseason. Though the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins have strong rivalries in this division too, the sheer disdain the Cowboys and Eagles have for each other takes the cake.

“Dallas Sucks” is a phrase every self-respecting Philadelphian has uttered before. It’s a right of passage to hate “America’s Team” with every fiber of your being if you’re an Eagles fan. Though it’s easy to hate the Cowboys, as many NFL franchises love to do it, you could say the feeling is mutual between these two rivals. Usually, their duking it out for divisional supremacy each fall.

Though Dallas has won five Super Bowls in franchise history, the Eagles won the most recent in this rivalry series back in Super Bowl LII in 2017. Outside of a handful of years, the Cowboys have been a .500 team for much of the 21st century. Philadelphia has been to two Super Bowls this century and has been a fixture in NFC title bouts. The disgust between these two never fades.
